About Ed Rebon

Born February 2, 1927 in Olanta, Ed Rebon was the son of Robert and Agnes (Rackovan) Rebon. Mr. Rebon owned and operated Rebon’s Heating and Plumbing until his retirement. He was a member of St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville, and was a U S Army Veteran of World War II. On November 28, 1953 in St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in Houtzdale, he wed the former Eleanor Jean Lutz .  He was an original member of the band called the “Hoedowners” for many years.

When Ed became infirm and moved into assisted living, he brought his favorite tenor guitar with him.  He asked his family to bury him with his guitar, which the family did after Ed passed away on March 28, 2012.

Ed Rebon's instruments

The family is keeping a few of Ed's instruments, including what appears to be a modified, ~1905 3-point Gibson F-3 with unusual, original baroque binding (and a grafted-on peghead that never saw the Gibson factory).
